Senior Designer

Johnson Fain is seeking a self-motivated, highly-skilled Senior Designer to work collaboratively with our design and technical team on a variety of project types. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic team-player and must possess a strong work ethic, strong client interface, leadership and communication skills with experience in largescale, complex, multi-use urban projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead a collaborative design effort with clients, consultants, and the internal design team.
  • Experience in preparing and directing Architectural presentations that effectively and creatively communicate design ideas.
  • Strong production skills, construction documents experience, and technical detailing
  • Mentor design staff in the process of architectural design and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively to coordinate design and documents with other disciplines.

Job Requirements:

  • Ten or more years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed CA Architect, preferred.
  • Familiar with building and zoning codes and agency approvals within the United States.
  • LEED AP, preferred.
  • Fluent knowledge of Rhino/ Grasshopper, Revit/ Dynamo and Lumion plus presentation software including Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Interiors Project Architect/Project Manager (Senior Interior Designer)

Johnson Fain is seeking a self-motivated, highly-skilled Interiors Project Architect / Project Manager to work collaboratively with our design and technical team on a variety of project types.  The ideal candidate will be a dynamic team-player with a background in Interior Design or Architecture and proven experience in all stages of Interior Design from conceptual design to detailed documentation. In addition, the candidate must possess a strong work ethic and outstanding client interface and communication skills.

Job Requirements:

  • Eight to ten years of Interior Design or Interior Architecture experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of current versions of REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and InDesign.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships and team communication.
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues.
  • Manage multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation with structural, MEP, lighting, A/V and signage/graphics consultants.
  • Develop design details with an understanding of constructability issues.
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project.
  • Manage typical construction phase tasks including but not limited to submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, on-site observations and site reviews.
  • Experience writing proposals would be beneficial.

Business Development & Marketing Coordinator


Johnson Fain is seeking a self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, creative individual to work collaboratively with our Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing as well as senior management on marketing communications and business development efforts for the firm. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic team-player with the ability to multi-task and must possess a strong work ethic and outstanding graphic and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and production of responses to Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) from private and public clients.
  • Assist in the design and production of marketing and communications material including but not limited to email newsletters, brochures, digital presentations, graphic displays, print/digital invitations, project sheets, and press releases.
  • Assist in the production of award submittals.
  • Assist in content development, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Maintain and update client database.
  • Assist in tracking new business leads.
  • Assist in the maintenance of website and social media content.
  • Assist in coordinating and planning various internal and external events.
  • Provide basic office administrative assistance.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in marketing, communications, architecture or graphic design.
  • 2-5 years related experience, preferably with an architecture firm.
  • Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, and Open Asset.
  • Superior graphic design and document layout skills.
  • Strong editing, writing, and design skills.
  • Basic html / WordPress knowledge.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
