Location:  Hollywood, California

Client:  Collage Dance Theater

Eye to Eye was a collaboration between five southern California choreographers, under the direction of Heidi Duckler, the artistic director of the Collage Dance Theater, as a part of the 1993 Los Angeles Philharmonic “Summer Nights” series. Stage sets for Eye to Eye were created especially for the John Anson Ford Theatres in Hollywood, treating the performance space itself as a site-specific venue.  The set comprised a large group of bold, geometric, woven wood forms, designed to be mobile and interpretive.  These elements were chosen and employed in various ways by each group of dancers in a series of five half-hour performances.  The sets evoked abstract representations of the provisional landscape which describes Los Angeles.
