A luxurious hotel complex was the first step in the implementation of this Master Plan for the resort-recreation development of the Makaha Valley. The Master Plan was designed to control and guide the development while preserving the distinctive character and natural beauty of the valley. The hotel offers a magnificent swimming pool, tennis courts, a luau grove and an 18-hole championship golf course. Eighteen guest buildings or cottages, in a contemporary Polynesian style, provide a total of 200 guest rooms. There are also five specially designed meeting rooms. The dominant building is the large Club house, which contains the pro shop, offices, dining room, cocktail lounge, boutiques, and banquet facilities. The Banquet Pavilion serves an open dining, dancing and entertainment area.

The Terrace Bar is a pavilion oriented to the swimming pool, equipped for cocktails, dining and dancing. These three buildings, the social and architectural centers of the complex, constitute an entryway and transition between the public, active areas and the secluded, quiet cottage zone. Placed in a garden setting amid a system of walkways and recreation areas, the hotel is intimately related to the contours of the site. The materials and colors of the buildings are either indigenous or compatible to the region, and add to the overall atmosphere of informality and leisure.

A 1558 acre country club and residential community include five condominium towers. The condominiums are sited in the foothills, in order to maximize views and to reserve the valley floor for open space, recreation and estate housing. Linked by their elevator cores, the 586-unit complex provides unparalleled views of the valley, mountains and ocean.
