Client: BioMarin Pharmaceutical
This new research laboratory and workplace complex for BioMarin will be located in the historic city of San Rafael north of San Francisco. The new development, one block from the downtown core represents a new direction in growth for the existing campus. The full city block site contains a five story senior housing center with apartments. A large open plaza fronts the complex at the building entry with a unique outdoor space under a cantilevered portion of the building that is the “front porch” and cafe for staff. The building’s shape, orientation and shading all help to create a highly sustainable project. A large landscaped roof deck, between the two buildings offers an exterior creative work environment for this innovative biotechnology company.
