Amgen, Inc. is one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies. Johnson Fain has provided comprehensive design services at Amgen Center since 1994. Three decades ago, Amgen began as a corporate start-up in a single building in Thousand Oaks. As the company grew, it acquired adjoining properties as they became available until the present 130 acre site was fully assembled. A master plan concept was established to accommodate expansion of new buildings, the adaptive re-use of existing buildings and to reconfigure open spaces for improved pedestrian and automobile circulation and new employee services. These many projects have had the effect of transforming a formerly industrial neighborhood into a friendly, landscaped and highly amenitized environment.
