Playa Vista Library

Location: Playa Vista, California, USA

Client: City of Los Angeles

The project is a new 10,500 square foot branch library in the Playa Vista community, located in West Los Angeles.  Landscape elements help define a pedestrian entry court and gardens are designed for views from within the library. The project was part of the first phase of development, which also includes a visitor’s Center, nearby residential areas and an adjacent Community Center. The building program includes a 1,000 square foot community meeting room, specially designed areas for children’s storytelling and teen gathering and a central Reading Room two and a half stories high surrounded by books and natural light. The site also provides parking for 21 cars.
