LA3 CoreSite Data Center
Location: Los Angeles, California, USA
Client: CoreSite
LA3, a new CoreSite Data Center completed in 2021, is an expansion to the landmark United States Postal Terminal Annex which was renovated and restored by Johnson Fain in 2001 into CoreSite’s current LA2 Data Center. LA3 is a 180,000 square foot, four story building consisting of 45,000 square foot floor plates. Johnson Fain’s design features a horizontally articulated metal façade with strong graphic patterns and texture. A signature canopy, stair tower and corner entrance to the secure building separates the new building from the original historical building, per the guidelines of the U.S. Department of the Interior. At the pedestrian level large board-formed pilasters provide scale and engage the variegated planter boxes. This variety in detail gives a visitor a sense of place and interest adjacent to the historic structure.
