Associate Principal | Director of Technology

Mark joined Johnson Fain as the Director of Technology in 2011 and has more than 22 years of professional experience in the integration of computer technologies into the design and production processes. Mark is responsible for the evaluation, implementation and maintenance of all of Johnson Fain’s technology needs. This includes networking, communications, workstations, printing, digital fabrication, mobile devices, design software & applications and developing workflows for the specific design process used at Johnson Fain. In addition, he is responsible for developing standards and training staff on all of our technology.

His previous work experience includes large scale mixed use projects throughout Asia, high-end single family residential and large scale aviation architectural and planning projects as well as teaching design studio and various design computing courses at several universities. Mark currently teaches design studios and digital media courses at Woodbury University and UCLA Extension. His current mix of professional and academic endeavors allow him to keep up with the rapid changing landscape of technology used in the design field and pass that to Johnson Fain as well as students.  Upon graduation, his students are consistently placed at top firms, including Johnson Fain.  Mark received the 2015 UCLA Extension Department of the Arts Outstanding Instructor Award.
